President's Message

Dear Chapter Members,

Thank you for being a part of our great organization.  Public Works is represented each and every day throughout our lives as we go about the business of living.  Serving as a public works professional can be and certainly should be very gratifying.  The Sacramento Chapter, in conjunction with the Shasta Cascade Branch, is here to insure that it is gratifying by engaging our members in many worthwhile ways.  Our Chapter is one of the largest and most active on the North American continent largely due to our member participation, energy, and dedication. We have many unique activities and programs that make our chapter distinct.

Our annual awards program has no equal and is celebrated every year in September at a special luncheon honoring the many winners.  Our awards highlight the "best and brightest" that have delivered projects throughout the region.  Our monthly lunch meetings provide networking opportunities and interesting, timely, and relevant public works presentations that are aimed at our diverse profession.  The Sacramento Chapter celebrates "Public Works Week ", in May, in a variety of ways which culminates with a dinner and silent auction.  The proceeds from this terrific event benefit our Education Endowment Fund for providing grants to area universities for equipment and educational programs.  Our annual engineering student scholarship program is very rewarding and now exceeds $8,300 annually to our regions Universities and Junior College students.

Our members are in the community making a difference; whether it is cleaning up a street, cleaning up a Creek during Creek Week, or attending local high schools to promote careers in our profession. And finally, in December of each year, we host an amazing Support Staff Appreciation Holiday event where between 500 and 700 attendees come together to truly celebrate our support staff.
