CHAPTER MISSION & GOALS
Sacramento Chapter Goals:
APWA National Mission:
The American Public Works Association serves its members by promoting professional excellence and public awareness through education, advocacy and the exchange of knowledge. APWA carries out its mission with the following long-range goals:
1. APWA will be acknowledged as the public policy advocate for the public infrastructure.
2. APWA will be the members' primary gateway resource for education, knowledge exchange, and services.
3. APWA will be recognized as the brand name for credible information on public works.
Sacramento Chapter Goals:
The Sacramento Chapter is committed to serving our membership through the following Chapter Goals, in addition to the National APWA mission:
1. Provide more opportunity for participation from members outside of the Sacramento Metropolitan Area.
2. Provide opportunities for service to the community.
3. Increase public awareness of APWA Chapter activities.
4. Promote and implement the Education Endowment Fund.
5. Promote membership and involvement of younger members, which includes those individuals new to the public works profession.
6. Increase membership and participation from represented entities within public works.
7. Encourage Cities and Counties with agency memberships to re-evaluate how memberships are assigned to reflect the breadth of activities available within APWA.
8. Partner with other associations to enhance our service to our members.
9. Plan for committee leadership transitions and develop talent and knowledge base for future Chapter leadership.
10. Develop educational opportunities and programs for improving the public works workforce.
