Update of The McKinley Water Vault Project
James Yorita will present on the update of the McKinley Water Vault Project for the City of Sacramento Department of Utilities. The City of Sacramento owns and operates a combined sewer system (CSS) that conveys residential and commercial wastewater and storm water runoff from approximately 11.7 square miles in downtown Sacramento and adjacent communities. The CSS serves approximately 205,000 people. The McKinley Water Vault is a regional storage project designed to alleviate combined wastewater flooding and outflows experienced during 10 year storm events. The 4 acre project site is within a historic urban park that receives heavy use by the public, and is surrounded by an upscale residential neighborhood. Components of the project include a 6 MG underground cast in place concrete reservoir, pump station, storm flow diversion structure, odor control system, wash down system, and remote monitoring electronics.
