National Public Works Week Button Design Contest

It’s time once again for this year’s National Public Works Week (NPWW) button design contest. All are invited to exhibit their artistic flare and creativity.  NPWW is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works.  This year NPWW will be celebrated May 16-22, 2010, and the theme is “ABOVE, BELOW AND ALL AROUND YOU”. These words speak to the all-pervasive effort of Public Works professionals and their projects.

Download the contest rules and submit your entry! Please note the deadline for entries is April 1, 2010 by 5:00 pm. Good luck, have fun and we encourage everyone to participate!

Next Lunch Meeting...Celia McAdam "Placer County Transportation Issues"
Celia McAdam, Executive Director of the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA), will be discussing the overall transportation outlook within Placer County. This includes ongoing projects such as the Lincoln Bypass and I-80 Bottleneck Improvements along with upcoming projects at the I-80/SR65 Interchange, the Placer Parkway extension, and the I-80/Eureka Road Interchange. She will also touch on the overall funding outlook for transportation within California, including anticipated impacts due to the ongoing state budget discussions.

Called “[one] of the most important transportation officials in Northern California” by the Sacramento Bee, Ms. McAdam has served as Executive Director of the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA) since 1998, and as Executive Director of the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority (SPRTA) since its formation in 2001. Ms. McAdam previously served as a Senior Planner for PCTPA in the early 1990s and also held management positions with the City of San Jose and the Butte County Association of Governments.

An expert in transportation funding, McAdam has been recognized by her peers for her creativity in moving projects forward in spite of bureaucratic and technical obstacles and sought out by the media for her ability to translate complex transportation issues into understandable terms. Under her leadership, PCTPA was named Organization of the Year by the California Transportation Foundation in 2003 and Agency of the Year by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments in 2007.
